Alexander McQueen, one of my all time favorite designers. It is hard to find somebody today with his fearless input and dedication for each of his collections. But I think Sara Burton, the new creative director for McQueen, has been able to keep his legacy and modern signature styles.
One of my favorite creations that she made for the Spring 2011 RTW collection was the monarch butteffly dress. This beatiful cocktail dress as well as the whole collection is an completely inspiration by mother nature (leaves, butterflies, etc). Burton created two magnificient dresses inspirated by the monarch buttefly. She had two version of this dress in the collection, but my favority was the tawny-orange because of the detailed section around the neck coming all the way down to mid-chest. She definitely succeeded with this piece; the tawny-orange color, plus black margins, and a series of small white spots fully achived the same color structure that characterised the monarch buterfly. Also we cannot forget about the shoes which completed this impressively beautiful and extravagant look.
*Can’t wait to keep seeing more of her work*
Hope you all find this dress as interesting and magnificent as I did….
Thanks Yenifer J
